New Name. Same ol’ Laura and Tim.

I’m pretty sure I bore a striking resemblance to Sloth from the Goonies at the time Lightworks360 appeared on the scene. There we were, in the wee hours of some spring morning a few years back, huddled over our computers to put the finishing touches on our very first logo. As it turns out, bringing a new business/website/idea into the world wasn’t the piece of cake we were imagining.

…Ooh, now I’m thinking about cake.

(photos from Alexandra Celia. We love her.)

We’d invented this fairly random business name (“Lightworks360, guys, get it? Because we work with liiiight“), threw an Edison bulb alongside our favorite font, and bam: our new baby was born. And in the space between that birthday and this one, we realized that a made-up word doesn’t always work.

Literally, Tim’s dad called us “Lighthouse Photography” last week. That shit is HILARIOUS, but it’s not like, the most solid thing to hang your hat on. (Love you, Pops.) We were feeling some major growing pains.

We also came to realize that the fact we work with light is totally secondary to the fact we work with YOU. We can all rely on the sun appearing tomorrow, but the fact that the amazing people surrounding us always appear too?! Well, that means the world to us.

During our travels, we took the time and space to think about the next things we want our business and lives to represent. Things like generosity and compassion. High standards and a sense of humor. Bravery and risk.

Every “thing” had another “thing” that came along with it. It was always, always connected by an ampersand. By the idea that there’s something more. Just how we want life to be for all of us: with another “and” always waiting in the wings.

So with that in mind, we’d like to introduce you to…

Our new brand, Sullivan & Sullivan (!)

As we’ve grown, our vision has expanded. We still love shooting weddings, and we also love our fellow entrepreneurs a ton too. We added branding packages to help change-makers solidify their visual identity and level their entrepreneurial asses up. And earlier this year, we launched Moveable Feast Retreats, an idea based on soaking up wisdom from all corners of this great wide world (there’s still one more spot at our inaugural retreat in a 12th century castle— perhaps waiting for you?).

We simplified our name, nabbed ourselves a new logo, and tightened up our shiz. If you’re a current client, ain’t nothing changed. If you’re a past client, we think about you with heart eyes. And we’re the same as always: ready to “yes, AND” your biggest dreams. Ready to throw that ampersand out there because ideas and inspiration are a never-ending resource. Let’s go get it.

Simply put, we’re still just us, now just more so.

If you wanna make our day, drop us a line. Tell us about the thing that’s keeping you awake at night as you imagine creating it. The thing that makes your leg jiggle with energy when you start to think about the next steps. This is your “yes, AND.” And it’s what makes this crazy life worthwhile.

And hey, from the deepest most profound corners of our heart parts, we can’t thank you enough for being a part of our lives.

Cheers to the “yes, ands,” and to taking leaps,

Laura and Tim

Ugh. Instagram captions. What the hell?

I've spent countless moments of my life staring at a blank instagram caption box. Try something - delete it. Put a quote in there - delete it. But I had a secret weapon... I'd just hand the phone to my wife. She's is a witty and wise firestorm of a woman and I love her for it. Apparently, so does instagram. Her irreverent, meandering, and poignant-as-hell captions have created a sense of community in our lives so that everywhere we travel, there’s usually someone willing to show us around (not to mention insta alone has literally put thousands of dollars in our bank account). So I made her sit down and explain what goes through her curly little head whenever her thumbs click away at her phone keyboard. Put your email below for her free guide on how to write insta captions that people actually care about and make the whole process (dare we say it) fun.. -Tim

We’re also gonna send you our creative biz tips that have helped us build our businesses from the ground up. We want you to lean into whatever is calling you and turn it into a big grownup brand that serves your community well and puts bread (or noodles… or whatever you’re into really) on the table. Not liking it? No worries - just click dat unsubscribe.
