Let me paint the picture of an instagram crush I had a couple years ago on two strangers in DC. I didn’t know them (YET) but their dog Ace was twins with our pup, they both looked like models, and they always seemed to be lounging in stylish clothes in front of the sexy brick wall that was their living room. I mean who the hell were these people.
I’ll cut out the middle man story here to tell you: Katy was a yogi who ran in the same Seattle yoga circles that Tim used to run in. Devin was working for Obama but somehow was also from my little hometown (hi Gig Harbor, we like to think you produce the finest of humans). I kept tabs on them, is my point. I loved them.
Flash forward to October of 2016, when we had just wrapped up our first Moveable Feast and were bopping around Paris drinking wine before heading home. And I got the DREAM DM (appropriately on instagram, where my love began):
Hi! I’m ded. It’s the dream. My crushes are getting engaged and we get to take pictures IN PARIS, what is life.
Fast forward a year and some change and we were hopping on a flight to Prospect House in Austin TX (the city we fell in love in, any reason to get back feels so romantic but shooting Katy and Devin’s wedding is above and beyond). And the most beautiful day unfolded in front of us: stylish without being self conscious, loving without being saccharine, just an extremely present couple who wanted to stop time and a wild crowd of friends and family cheering them on (also one of the hotter groups of people we’ve ever seen).
PS. You can also read their story in super-depth on White Magazine, who snapped this feature up as soon as Katy’s white pantsuit entered the scene.
Yes that’s them in the New York Times the morning of the wedding. How bomb.
Private vows forever. I’ll never get over the electricity in the air when couples say their vows in semi-secret during the first look. I’m tearing up again just looking at this photo.
The groomsmen walking out like their own Rat Pack. So chic and non-stuffy, living for it.
I wish it never would have ended.
