These engagement photos were taken ten days ago, and it feels like another world entirely. Back when their wedding at my dream venue, The Plant at Kyle, was still on for the end of this month, when our plans to be together in Austin and eat queso and get them married in style were still […]

Listen, we’re here to give the people what they want, and if Instagram has anything to say about it YOU WANT MORE JON & NATASHA. Such purity of heart! Two days after their Artist Point Elopement, this new family of three trekked back to say their vows more publicly (it took me four tries to […]

Where do I even begin with these beloved babies? Should I start with how being the photographer for THE Natasha of THE Invisible Hostess (Seattlites— call them to plan your wedding) was a next-level thrill? What if I start with how on their first date, Natasha showed up a bundle of nerves and Jon stood […]

A week ago this very moment, Amisadai and I were careening through Newark International Airport like two little sweaty piglets who could not wait to return to their abode. In the first 8 months of her life, Misa hasn’t spent more than two consecutive weeks at home, and has taken over 20 flights and nearly […]

HELLO SIRS AND FRAULEINS, we made it through 2019! Blessings. Ok, sometime in 2018 I had a v uncomfy realization that I HAVE NO ATTENTION  SPAN ANYMORE. Before I got an iPhone in 2012, I used to read books and journal and fill my quiet free time with long stretches of using my brain… and […]

Ok, LISTENNNNN. We are delirious. We sleep like, oh, never. This baby has turned our world upside down in every good way possible. But getting back to work— showing up at weddings, throwing popup dinners, editing photos and working from the kitchen table— is giving me LIFE RIGHT NOW. So please allow me to share […]

One of the best things about becoming a wedding photographer has been the crazy amazing honor of being welcomed into the inner circle on so many kinds of intimate ceremonies. Val and Joe started their wedding weekend with a Vietnamese ceremony at her mom’s house, and we’re wondering a few things: why don’t all brides […]

Oh, just a casual crop top wedding dress that couldn’t look better on any other human on earth. Val and Joe are the coolest kids who should be celebrity stylists (or just celebrities IMHO), and their wedding day at the amazing Alderbrook Resort with a dream team of collaborators honestly made me realize that I […]

If all goes to plan, we’re having a baby this week. It’s a week that- for yeeeears- I’ve been alternately avoiding and panicking about and anticipating joyfully and lately… Googling endlessly (“WHAT DOES LABOR ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE, THOUGH???”). And here it is. Like literally, I’m having contractions as I write this. We delayed even remotely […]

I mean EXCUSE THEM. We knew Alana and Zach were a hot ticket but they brought the real heat on their wedding day: a sexy salsa first dance, serving face for their portraits in a bomb Pioneer Square loft, and making a rainy weekend in Seattle feel like a balmy day in Bali (which is […]

Ugh. Instagram captions. What the hell?

I've spent countless moments of my life staring at a blank instagram caption box. Try something - delete it. Put a quote in there - delete it. But I had a secret weapon... I'd just hand the phone to my wife. She's is a witty and wise firestorm of a woman and I love her for it. Apparently, so does instagram. Her irreverent, meandering, and poignant-as-hell captions have created a sense of community in our lives so that everywhere we travel, there’s usually someone willing to show us around (not to mention insta alone has literally put thousands of dollars in our bank account). So I made her sit down and explain what goes through her curly little head whenever her thumbs click away at her phone keyboard. Put your email below for her free guide on how to write insta captions that people actually care about.
