Ok, LISTENNNNN. We are delirious. We sleep like, oh, never. This baby has turned our world upside down in every good way possible. But getting back to work— showing up at weddings, throwing popup dinners, editing photos and working from the kitchen table— is giving me LIFE RIGHT NOW. So please allow me to share […]

One of the best things about becoming a wedding photographer has been the crazy amazing honor of being welcomed into the inner circle on so many kinds of intimate ceremonies. Val and Joe started their wedding weekend with a Vietnamese ceremony at her mom’s house, and we’re wondering a few things: why don’t all brides […]

Oh, just a casual crop top wedding dress that couldn’t look better on any other human on earth. Val and Joe are the coolest kids who should be celebrity stylists (or just celebrities IMHO), and their wedding day at the amazing Alderbrook Resort with a dream team of collaborators honestly made me realize that I […]

If all goes to plan, we’re having a baby this week. It’s a week that- for yeeeears- I’ve been alternately avoiding and panicking about and anticipating joyfully and lately… Googling endlessly (“WHAT DOES LABOR ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE, THOUGH???”). And here it is. Like literally, I’m having contractions as I write this. We delayed even remotely […]

I mean EXCUSE THEM. We knew Alana and Zach were a hot ticket but they brought the real heat on their wedding day: a sexy salsa first dance, serving face for their portraits in a bomb Pioneer Square loft, and making a rainy weekend in Seattle feel like a balmy day in Bali (which is […]

In my mid-twenties, something singularly DEVASTATING happened and I thought I’d never recover: I got dumped very suddenly and over the freaking phone. The phone! CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE IT? The gah-damn nerve of some people, I’m a gift. Anyway, I was very very depressed and thought my life was over and I lost a […]

When we first started shooting weddings, we ONLY shot 12 hour days. We wanted to cover every aspect of the day, make sure “the first shot of espresso to the last shot of tequila” were all properly documented, and be ready for anything. Aaaaaand holy moly do you know how long a 12 hour day […]

Ok, if we’ve met, you KNOW that I tend to talk a little shit about LA. I just don’t get how anyone can survive in traffic all day every day, I’m not really a “sun” person, and my aesthetic is more “bundled up in greyscale” than “freewheeling blonde” so it’s never felt like the right […]

Two years ago, one of our best friends was riding a wave of success: a VP at her major corporation, corner office downtown, on track to become a vested partner, and a 30-something hour work schedule that would honestly make most entrepreneurs completely faint from envy. And despite my “no FOMO” policy, despite being really […]

When the stars align and a couple contacts you six weeks before their courthouse wedding and YOU’RE AVAILABLE and it feels like a Christmas miracle… it’s even better when the couple is Claire and Bramble (celeb couple name Clamble if you were wondering). Inner circle only, a perfect weepy ceremony on the Seattle Courthouse rooftop, […]

Back in his tender youth, Tim was dead-set on going to university in New Zealand. His application was en route to the post office when his sweet mom offhandedly said “well, this is THIS week’s dream.” He was crushed– what do you mean, THIS WEEK? This is the only path for me! I’m becoming a […]

DAMMIT Caitlin and Dillon! You two have the story that every freshman in college dreams of– meeting the love of your life in Poli-Sci lecture and spending your adorable youth together before having a glorious Dairyland wedding in a floral velvet suit with your sweet doggo Lupin literally at your side when you say your […]

It’s been 3 months and I’m not as booked as I want to be. I think I should apply for jobs again. The most talented designer I know just texted me. Last year, she got downsized out of her cushy job churning out corporate-y logo designs and taking three gin & tonics to the face […]

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” -Steve Jobs When is the last time we really examined our ideas about quitting? I mean really dug into what we believe about commitment and purpose? When Tim and I first got married, I was in grad school for a degree that I knew I should […]

Remember when Brittany and Hollis got engaged and we had one of the most profound experiences doing their engagement photos in Sodo? WELL THEY GOT MARRIED. And Tim officiated. And it was just the four of us, in a field near Mt Hood in Oregon, crying and laughing and taking our sweet time all day. […]

I have a dear friend who sells Spiritual Grounding services. She helps her clients begin to answer the question, “what the hell am I doing here?” What do you get when you work with her? — Deeper contentment and direction in life. A sense of Spiritual Grounding is actually super important. Psychologists say that if […]

Considering Sammie and Christopher were SERIOUS troopers during their engagement shoot last January, when the heavens erupted and we were running around Seattle in a sleety haze, dang did these two deserve a real wedding day solid with a balmy, sunshiney day in Seattle (no matter what month it is, sun is never guaranteed here– […]

Let’s go back in time for a second— to a more innocent time, long ago. The year was 2015: when Jon Snow was thought to be dead and Adele was in California dreaming about who she used to be. Hotline Bling blasted from radios and only the coolest of cools knew about how the 10 […]

By the time Morgan made it down the aisle to her cute Argentinian groom Nacho, she miiight have been a few minutes late. He was sweating bullets at the front of the chapel, wondering “did she leave me in the lurch?” And the palpable joy on both of their faces when they saw the other, […]

Ashley and Josh were flying into Seattle for their wedding, and they wanted to: -wander around downtown with us for a few hours to really focus on photos before their ceremony -eat donuts at Pike Place (BE STILL MY HEART) -get married at a restaurant they really loved in Seattle (hi La Spiga, we love […]

Ugh. Instagram captions. What the hell?

I've spent countless moments of my life staring at a blank instagram caption box. Try something - delete it. Put a quote in there - delete it. But I had a secret weapon... I'd just hand the phone to my wife. She's is a witty and wise firestorm of a woman and I love her for it. Apparently, so does instagram. Her irreverent, meandering, and poignant-as-hell captions have created a sense of community in our lives so that everywhere we travel, there’s usually someone willing to show us around (not to mention insta alone has literally put thousands of dollars in our bank account). So I made her sit down and explain what goes through her curly little head whenever her thumbs click away at her phone keyboard. Put your email below for her free guide on how to write insta captions that people actually care about.
